Religious Symbols

In religion symbols are used as a form of language.

Symbols help communicate a complicated idea, e.g. belief in God.

Symbols can help build a sense of identity and community.

Symbols are also used to cause an emotional (emotive) response and to remind people of important events.

They can be used and interpreted differently.

To understand other people, you need to understand the symbols they use.
