Hinduism is one of our most ancient religions with over 3 million Gods and Goddesses.

Hindus (followers of Hinduism) practice yoga as a way to help understand the world around them.

Today we will be practicing yoga, but not the 'yoga' you know of.

Bhakti: The path of worship/devotion

Hinduism

The act of worship is called Puja.

This can involve praying silently, singing or even dancing.

Hunds can pray at home or they can visit a Mandir (temple).

Hindus pray to many Gods, each one has a story and meaning behind it.

Hinduism is one of the few religions that has Female Goddessess.

Jnana: The path of knowledge

Hinduism

Hindus who believe in this path read the Holy Books.

The Bgahavad Gita is a Holy Book which contains the worlds' longest poems - called Mahabratta.

Most Hindu books are written in the language Sanskrit.

Some words in English have come from Sanskrit - like the number 'zero'.

Most Hindus will proabbly never read the Holy books - but the stories are put into films and theatre for everyone to understand.

Raja: The path of inner peace

Hinduism

Raja means 'royal' and is the path that was once taken by kings in ancient times.

There are 8 parts of this path but it is focused on leading up to one main component: meditation.

Hindus who follow this path believe that settling the mind and overcoming physical needs will get them closer to knowing their true self and God.

Raja yoga is something you experience with your soul.

On your picture of a human outline place an x on where you think the soul is located.
